Costume Designer
Alice is a graduate from San Francisco State University (2016) with a B.A. in Theatrical Technology and Design with an emphasis on Costume Design. She currently lives in the Bay Area (Alameda, CA) and is known to be the Ikea bag lady who buys too many lattes.
Since graduating, Alice has been grateful to work with various theatres and build a lot of momentum. She was recently awarded Crowded Fire's IGNITE FUND, support for young artists to advance their careers, and is looking forward to having the opportunity to take her work further.
The thing that made her grasp onto costume design was seeing the ability a garment has to share an entire history of a person and the era from which they came. The lines that connect between shoulder pads and politics, hemlines and sexuality (or repression of it), fabric choice and economy, class and race are the kind of lines she learned to identify and track through silhouettes and trends. She is passionate about understanding why you chose that color and how people will perceive it.
